After a trip to visit Incredible Edible Todmorden in March, Oadby and Wigston has now joined what is now a world-wide movement and now has it’s own Incredible Edible Oadby & Wigston project.
Our Oadby and Wigston Master Gardeners have been extremely busy over the past year, supporting the existing community gardens at Elizabeth Court, Boulter Crescent and Brocks Hill and during the winter months have been closely involved in the new Wigston Food and Green Spaces Forums, which bring together local people from a range of projects connected with food issues, growing and the environment. These have resulted in a surge of activity and enthusiasm for community growing.
The Incredible Edible Oadby & Wigston project is working to increase the community growing spaces available around the borough, so that local residents can enjoy growing food together and edible crops can become part of the landscape, raising awareness of where our food comes from more widely. It’s all about sharing fun and good food. Watch this space to see how they grow!
